King Cole Cannery Celebrity Chef Cook-off and Gourmet Wine Basket Raffle

The Milton Historical Society is pleased to announce the participation of chefs Kevin Reading (Abbott’s Grill), Chris Parks (Lupo Italian Kitchen) and Stephanie Wampole (Bacchus Wine Bar) in our first ever– King Cole Cannery Celebrity Chef Cook-off and Gourmet Wine Basket Raffle fundraiser.

Chef Reading is the owner & founder of Abbott’s Grill & Abbott’s on Broad Creek.  He has over 35 years of experience in the restaurant industry both as a restaurateur and chef. Graduate of the Philadelphia Restaurant School in 1994, Reading went on to open the acclaimed Fox Point Grill in Wilmington that same year. In the following years, he ventured to southern Delaware to open Rehoboth Beach favorites Espuma & Nage.  Reading has won several awards including Chef of the Year and Restaurateur of the Year. Most recently, he’s partnered with the owners of Mispillion River Brewing Company to open Smyrna’ first brewpub, Brick Words Brewing & Eating.

Chef Parks hails from the great state of New Jersey. He graduated from The Restaurant School in Philadelphia with a Culinary Degree in Specialized Technology.  He began his career working for Capital Restaurant Concepts in Washington DC in 2002. In 2007 he moved up to NYC to work under acclaimed Chefs Tom Colicchio and then later Andrew Carmellini.  In January 2014, Chef Parks joined SoDel Concepts and currently works as Executive Chef at Lupo Italian Kitchen. Chris resides in Lewes with his wife, Korine, their two sons, Miles and Bodhi, and their Labrador Eddie.

Chef Wampole is originally from Baltimore, Maryland. She moved to the Eastern Shore to attend Salisbury University where she received her Bachelor degree in Communications. A few years later Stephanie attended Wor-Wic Community College studying culinary arts. While finishing her culinary degree, Stephanie worked at the Ocean Pines Yacht Club. After graduating she was a garde manger and prep cook at the four diamond rated restaurant STARS located in the Inn at Perry Cabin in St. Michael’s Maryland. She is now head chef at Bacchus Wine Bar of Milton which will be celebrating its one year anniversary in October.

Both the cook-off and raffle will be held on Saturday, October 15 from 5-7 pm in the Milton Fire Hall.  Tickets to the cook-off are $25 each and are limited to the first 200 reservations.  Attendees will have the opportunity to taste offerings from chefs Reading, Parks and Wampole.  All chefs will be competing using fruits and vegetables in their recipes that would have been canned at a local King Cole Cannery.  Attendees will have a vote in deciding the winner of the King Cole Cannery Celebrity Chef Cook-off.

A cash bar will offer a selection of wine, Dogfish Head beer, and soft drinks. We are so excited for this event!
