4th of July Festivities in Milton
Its time once again to celebrate our independence and freedom in Milton on the Tuesday, the 4th of July, with a family-friendly patriotic celebration in Milton Memorial Park from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. Enjoy old-fashioned fun for all ages all day as our local businesses and community groups collaborate to “Bring Mayberry Back to Milton.”
A highlight of the festivities is the bike decorating contest and bike parade at 11:00 a.m. sponsored by Irish Eyes Pub and Restaurant. Grand prizes of two brand new bikes will be awarded to the winners – one each to the best boy and girl entries. All decorated bike contestants must register by 10:45am at Irish Eyes Restaurant and Pub in Milton on the back patio.
Other festivities include a dunk tank, a cake walk and free games and activities for children. Children will enjoy train rides, relay and sack races and a variety of competitions including the popular “Chess Tent” where children can develop their chess skills and play matches.
The “Milton’s Best” Pie Baking Contest has three competitive categories – professional, amateur, and children 12 and under. Bring your favorite Red, White or Blue themed pie to the Hospitality Tent between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. on July 4th. All pies must be homemade, have a red, white or blue filling and not require refrigeration. Prizes and certificates will be awarded to the winners!
Musical entertainment at the gazebo will feature Milton’s own Walt Hetfield known for his Buddy Holly Tribute. His group will perform “OH BOY!” A Tribute to America that includes patriotic songs and Americana 1950’s Rock and Roll. Along with the “OH BOY!” tribute, DJ Jerry B, from Affordable Wedding Entertainment, will keep the music flowing.
Bring a picnic lunch or feast on food from on-site vendors including Irish Eyes, the Holy Smokers of Goshen Church, Hickman’s Meat Market and the Milton Lions Club. Milton’s 4th of July celebration is sponsored by the Milton Community Foundation, Irish Eyes, the Milton Women’s Club, plus your friends and neighbors. Bring your family and guests and enjoy this Milton tradition of celebrating our freedom.
Sponsorship opportunities are still available. This event is free and open to the public. For further information or to become a sponsor, contact Charlene Jones at charlene@irisheyespub.com or Maryellen Kiernan at mare@irisheyespub.com or call
