2015 MUNICIPAL ELECTION NOTICE

 

The Town of Milton will hold an election to fill the two seats of Council member on Saturday, March 7, 2015.  The election will be held at Town Hall, 115 Federal Street, Milton, Delaware, between the hours of 8am and 6pm.

 

Candidates for the 3 year term are:

Theodore Kanakos

Edward Kost

Mark Quigley

QUALIFICATIONS TO VOTE:

 

Milton Municipal Charter, Section 7 (i): If voting in person on Election Day, one must provide a current State of Delaware driver’s license or ID card. The only exception is personal recognition by a majority of the Election Officers in the polling place, which can attest to a voter’s identity and address. (j) At such Annual Municipal Election every person, male or female, who shall have attained the age of eighteen (18) years on the date of the Annual Municipal Election and who shall be a citizen of the United States and a bona fide primary legal resident of The Town of Milton shall have one (1) vote, provided he or she is registered on the “Book of Registered Voters” of The Town of Milton. The Town Council of The Town of Milton shall provide one (1) register to be known as the “Book of Registered Voters” which is to be kept at the office of the Town Clerk with a back up on the computer at Town Hall. The Book of Registered Voters shall contain the following information for each registrant: The name of the registered voter arranged in alphabetical order, the address of the voter, the birth date of the voter, the date the registrant became a citizen of the United States, the date the registrant became a resident of The Town of Milton, and any other pertinent information. No person shall be registered upon the Book of Registered Voters unless he/she has acquired the qualifications to vote in the Annual Municipal Election for the year in which he/she registers. A person shall be required to register only one time. The Book of Registered Voters shall be maintained in the office of the Town Clerk and shall be conclusive evidence of the right of any person to vote at the Annual Municipal Election. A person may register at the office of the Town Clerk during the regular business hours of such office until the close of business of such office thirty (30) days prior to the date of the Annual Municipal Election by completing such forms as may be provided by the Town.  (k) All votes offered at the Annual Municipal Election shall be offered in person or by absentee vote submitted in accordance with rules and procedures governing absentee ballots as set forth by Title 15 Del. Code.

 

ABSENTEE BALLOTS

 

A registered voter that is unable to come to the election polls on the day of the election must complete an affidavit prior to receiving an absentee ballot.  The completed affidavit must be received in Town Hall by noon on Friday, March 6, 2015.

 

Absentee ballots can be mailed to registered voters, who have completed an affidavit, starting January 19, 2015 through March 2, 2015. If the registered voter needs the ballot after March 2, 2015, they must come to Town Hall and pick up the ballot. All absentee ballots must be received by the Election Board by the close of the election polls at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015.
