Thank you to those that have completed the Chesapeake Utilities, Natural Gas Expansion survey for the Town of Milton.  So far, we have received approximately 215 responses. The survey will be available until Friday, October 19th.  Please take a couple seconds to complete the survey on your interest in natural gas.  This survey is not a binding commitment, but rather determining interest should natural gas be available. Without your response, the Town and Chesapeake are unable to conclude the community’s interest in natural gas. Here is the link:

REFERENDUM RESULTS: 531 Total Votes; 493 In Support and 38 Against     WATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS REFERENDUM Saturday, July 21, 2018 Milton Town Hall 8:00am – 6:00 pm   Notice is hereby given to the residents and to the property owners, including revocable trusts, partnerships and corporations, of the Town of Milton that a referendum for the purpose of voting for or against the borrowing of up to $895,000.00 on the full faith, credit and taxing power of the town.   The borrowing of $895,000.00 is a total of two loans: one loan in the amount of $500,000.00 to fund the Shipbuilders Well and Treatment Facility; and one loan in the amount of $395,000.00 to fund the Wagamons Water Main Extension.  Please note that the inclusion of Shipbuilders and Wagamons in the project titles merely represents location.  The two projects increase town-wide resilience, drinking water quality, fire flow, and the ability […]

2018 Water System Improvements and Information Sessions for Referendum In 2015, the Town of Milton received a Drinking Water Planning Grant to map and model the water system, and develop a report of water system improvements to increase resilience, fire flow, and the ability to operate during and after a large storm event. After completion of the mapping and modeling of the water system, scenarios were conducted in the water model.  The following water system improvements were the results and recommendations of the water system model: Install the Wagamons water main extension Install a new well and treatment facility Build a new storage facility Replace failing water mains, along Atlantic Avenue / Bay Avenue Chestnut Street Route 16, Atlantic Street, and Orchard / Union Streets Improve low flow hydrants With much consideration of the Drinking Water Planning Grant report and recommendations, all projects were submitted to Delaware Department of Natural […]

I am extremely proud to announce that Milton has been named by SafeWise as the 2nd Safest City in Delaware. We were 8th in 2016, and 4th in 2017. (Stats are based upon the crimes from the previous year). Our staff is committed to excellence and we are determined to be the Number 1 Safest City in Delaware. PRESS RELEASE   March 2, 2018   Town of Milton contracts with CodeRED to provide Emergency Notification Services     Town of Milton, Delaware – Following a thorough evaluation and review of alerting systems, the Town of Milton has implemented CodeRED, a high-speed emergency mass notification service provided by OnSolve, LLC.   The CodeRED system will serve as the backbone of the Milton’s emergency communications outreach to businesses and citizens. The system sends telephone calls, text messages, emails and posts to social media channels to inform residents to better protect life and property. Preparedness a must, no matter the season Georgetown, Del. (Thu., Nov. 30, 2017): Storms come and go from one season to the next, but the need to have a preparedness plan is a constant whatever the weather. The Sussex County Emergency Operations Center reminds the public that preparation is a must before any season, whether it’s ahead of hurricane season that ends in November or the nor’easter season that runs from now until to March. 2018 Annual Municipal Election

For immediate release: January 10, 2018   TOWN OF MILTON 2018 Annual Municipal Election   The 2018 Annual Municipal Election candidate filing deadline was Tuesday, January 2, at 5:00 p.m.  This year’s Election was open for two council seats.  Two citizens declared their candidacy for the 2018 Election:  incumbent Councilmen Charles Fleetwood and G. Kevin Kelly.   Since the number of qualified candidates equals the number of seats open for election, there will not be an Annual Election.   In accordance with the Town Charter, Mr. Charles Fleetwood and Mr. G. Kevin Kelly are deemed elected.   Mr. Charles Fleetwood and Mr. G. Kevin Kelly will be sworn-in at the April 2, 2018 Town Council meeting, which will be held at the Milton Library beginning at 6:30 p.m.
