Weather permitting, the Towns Chestnut Street rehabilitation project continues into the beginning of November; we ask that there be no parking on Chestnut Street, from Coulter Street to New Street. A Call for Artists

Date Posted: Wednesday, February 1st, 2023

The Town of Milton Economic Development Committee is planning an art installation in Mill Park (home of the John Milton statue) starting April 15, 2023, and running through June 30, 2023.  The installation will include a series of twelve (12) 3’ x 6’ (vertical) murals celebrating the theme “greetings.” Four of the murals will be painted by students at the area schools.  We are seeking artists to paint the remaining eight murals.

If you would like to be considered for this project, please submit:

  • Three photos of previous pieces that are representative of your work
  • Your name
  • Phone number
  • Email address, and
  • Physical address of your home or studio

An independent five-person jury (not members of the Economic Development Committee) will consider the submissions and choose the artists. The deadline for submission is February 24, 2023.  Results will be announced March 3, 2023.

Each chosen artist (or group of artists, if a work is to be done collaboratively) will receive a $500 honorarium and $150 for materials.  The Economic Development Committee will purchase and supply one 3’ x 6’ piece of sanded marine grade plywood to each artist or group of artists.

Please send your application or questions to EDC@ci.milton.de.us by 11:59PM on February 24, 2023.
