Invitation to Bid: Intersection Improvements

INVITATION TO BID

Sealed bids will be received by the Town of Milton, Delaware until 2:00 p.m. local time on June 14, 2023 at the Town of Milton Town Hall, 115 Federal Street, Milton, DE 19968, after which the bids will then be publicly opened and read aloud for the following project:

INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS

THE TOWN OF MILTON

ITEM 1 – CHESTNUT STREET AND WHARTON STREET/ATLANTIC STREET

This portion of the project is to add pedestrian crosswalks and traffic calming bump outs to the intersection of Chestnut Street and Wharton Street / Atlantic Street. The work includes, but is not limited to: pavement, sidewalk, sign, and curb removal; pavement mill & overlay; grading; installation of curb, sidewalk, signage, detectable warning surfaces, and crosswalk / road striping.

 

ITEM 2 – FEDERAL STREET AND MULBERRY STREET / WHARTON STREET

This portion of project is to add a new pedestrian crosswalk and stop bars to the intersection of Federal Street and Mulberry Street / Wharton Street. The work includes, but is not limited to: pavement, sidewalk, and curb removal; pavement mill & overlay; sign relocation; grading; installation of curb, sidewalk, signage, detectable warning surfaces, and crosswalk / road striping.

 

ITEM 3 – UNION STREET AND BROAD STREET

This portion of the project is to add a new pedestrian crosswalk and traffic calming bump outs to the intersection of Union Street and Broad Street. The work includes, but is not limited to: pavement, sidewalk, and curb removal; pavement mill & overlay; sign relocation; grading; installation of curb, sidewalk, detectable warning surfaces, and crosswalk / road striping.

Bid documents are available for review at the office of Verdantas LLC at 1060 South Governors Ave, Suite 101, Dover DE, 19904 and at the Milton Town Hall, 115 Federal Street, Milton, Delaware 19968.

 

A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held at the Town of Milton – Town Hall, 115 Federal Street, Milton, Delaware 19968 at 2:00 p.m. local time on June 7, 2023.

 

Bids are especially invited from minority business enterprises and women’s business enterprises (MBE/WBE).  This project is funded through the money from the Sussex County Realty Transfer Tax.  The work will be subject to the Equal Opportunity requirements of the program.

 

The Town of Milton reserves the right to waive any informalities and to reject any or all bids.  Each Bidder must submit a bid security of not less than ten (10) percent of the bid amount, in a form and subject to the conditions provided in the Instructions to Bidders.  No bid may be withdrawn within thirty (30) days after the actual date of the bid opening.
