2018 Annual Municipal Election
Date Posted: Wednesday, January 10th, 2018For immediate release: January 10, 2018 TOWN OF MILTON 2018 Annual Municipal Election The 2018 Annual Municipal Election candidate filing deadline was Tuesday, January 2, at 5:00 p.m. This year’s Election was open for two council seats. Two citizens declared their candidacy for the 2018 Election: incumbent Councilmen Charles Fleetwood and G. Kevin Kelly. Since the number of qualified candidates equals the number of seats open for election, there will not be an Annual Election. In accordance with the Town Charter, Mr. Charles Fleetwood and Mr. G. Kevin Kelly are deemed elected. Mr. Charles Fleetwood and Mr. G. Kevin Kelly will be sworn-in at the April 2, 2018 Town Council meeting, which will be held at the Milton Library beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Cold weather means frozen water and that could mean busted pipes and other major plumbing headaches and expenses. If a pipe bursts in your home, it could spill several hundred gallons of water per hour. The damage could also be costly. Here are a few tips to get your home ready for the winter season: Inside Your Home: Keep the garage door closed if a bathroom or laundry room is located above or nearby to maintain maximum heat. If some pipes are located in an unheated garage trying wrapping them. Local hardware or building supply stores offer appropriate pipe wrapping materials. Effective October 1st, Change in Residential Waste Services

Every three years, the Town of Milton advertises to receive Request for Quotations relating to residential waste collection services to assure our citizens are given the best services at the most reasonable cost. As a result of the bid for services, the quarterly waste collection fee decreased from $57.00 to $54.00. Effective October 1, 2017, Charlie’s Waste Services, LLC, dba Blue Hen Disposal, will be the Town of Milton’s residential waste, yard waste, bulk item, and recycle hauling contractor. Town wide residential waste collection will occur weekly on Tuesday, followed by yard waste collection on alternating Wednesdays, and recycle collection every other Thursday. Included in this mailing is a Collection Calendar to serve as your guide for each week’s collection. Cape Gazette: Emergency home repair program launched
Date Posted: Friday, August 18th, 2017Emergency home repair program launched July 16, 2017 The Delaware State Housing Authority has announced that qualified homeowners in need of assistance to keep their homes livable can apply for assistance from the new Statewide Emergency Repair Program. The new program is administered by the Milford Housing Development Corporation, which was awarded $600,000 by DSHA to streamline the application process. DSHA had previously funded repairs through a number of partners, depending on jurisdiction. The Statewide Emergency Response Program has a single point of contact and operates in all three counties. The new program is designed to address emergency conditions threatening the health or safety of eligible Delaware homeowners and members of their households. Qualified applicants must own their home, have lived there for at least one year, and meet income guidelines. Milton Turns the Town Teal
Date Posted: Tuesday, August 15th, 2017Milton participates for the second year, in “Turn the Towns Teal” September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. Milton participated in the national campaign to promote awareness of ovarian cancer and its symptoms by hanging teal ribbons on light poles, signs, and trees along Federal and Union Streets, and in Memorial Park.
